Ceramics of Italy at Sia Guest 2011 for innovation and hospitality

Ceramic tiles met hospitality at the 61st Sia Guest, the International Hospitality Show held in the Rimini exhibition centre from 26 to 29 November 2011. This show, renowned for its innovation and excellence, once again saw the participation of Confindustria Ceramica under the Ceramics of Italy mark.   The event has wide appeal due to its unique mix of innovation, trends, atmospheres and in-depth analysis and its ability to evolve in step with the market and to look to future scenarios with experience and intuition. The show’s success has become well established over the decades and is confirmed by the figures for 2010: 60,000 square metres of exhibition space, 600 exhibitor companies, more than 35,000 professional visitors, 150 delegations from 17 different countries, 45 conferences, workshops, exhibitions, competitions and demonstration areas, almost 300 accredited journalists and numerous positive reports in the specialist press and on the major TV and radio networks.

The ceramic tile sector made a highly creative contribution to the event, bringing its sophisticated, cutting-edge experimentation in the field of hotel design. Organised by Confindustria Ceramica’s publishing and promotional division Edi.Cer. Spa, the initiative was an opportunity for hospitality professionals to meet the ceramic tile industry. The Ceramics of Italy mark took part with a collective stand designed by architects Dante Donegani and Giovanni Lauda, an outstanding showcase of the tradition, innovation and creativity of the Italian ceramic tile industry. A total of nine companies grouped together in an exhibition space of 288 square metres, met top international professionals in the hotel and hospitality sector: Atlas Concorde, Casalgrande Padana, Ceramiche Keope, Cotto d’Este Nuove Superfici, Fap Ceramiche, Impronta Ceramiche, Mirage, Petracer’s and Refin Ceramiche. The stand also hosted an infopoint where international visitors could obtain information on the quality and versatility of Italian ceramic products.

The companies taking part under the umbrella of the Ceramics of Italy mark benefited from excellent opportunities as a result of an agreement reached between Edi.Cer. and the organisers of Sia Guest. The stand (117-118 in hall 5) hosted the delegation of 38 buyers from Oman, Brazil, India, UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, organised as part of a project by the Rimini Chamber of Commerce entitled “Abitare e Costruire”. The participating companies also had the opportunity to install their tiles in the exhibition area organised in hall C3, where the Food & Beverage in Hotel areas were set up and where the workshops devoted to hotel catering were held on Sunday 27 and Monday 28 November. Last but not least, during the exhibition a Ceramics of Italy newsletter featuring company news was sent out to a mailing list of 30,000 recipients.

Once again this year the select, high-quality public at Sia Guest enjoyed an all-round vision of the world of hospitality, including furnishings for hotels and restaurants, furnishing accessories, building components, linen, glasses, porcelain, fitness and wellness centre equipment, bathroom furnishings, fabrics and interior finishings, light design, systems for energy saving, IT and management systems, and catering and bar systems. The meeting between supply and demand was further encouraged by the interactive context and by business-to-business meetings between buyers and exhibitor companies. The show sought to generate concrete business opportunities and to complement offerings with high-level exhibitions, conferences and seminars in the field of wellness, hospitality, catering and environmental sustainability.

Like every year, the event attracted a diverse range of highly competent visitors consisting of hotel managers, hotel proprietors, restaurant managers, buyers from hotel chains, beauty farm owners, chefs, architects, designers and journalists.
